SOCIAL EVENING

Friday 2nd May 2008

   Held at The North Hykeham Social Club HG, which was a very enjoyable occasion for the 67 members who after a session of Irish Bingo, followed by an excellent buffet supplied by Alan Popham butcher/baker of Saxilby – ham, beef, turkey, assorted salads, new potatoes and apple pie and cream.

   Robert Thomson then gave an audio visual presentation of his 154 mile Marathon – des – Sables International – across the gruelling wastes of the Sahara, such was the members interest that question time had to be extended.

   Our most grateful thanks to the committee of The North Hykeham Social Club, Branston Produce Group for the potatoes and a £100-00 worth Of vouchers, Messrs Pennells for raffle prizes also members who contributed to a memorable evening especially our lady committee members for all their hard work.

   (Foot note – Two days later received email from Richard saying how much he enjoyed the evening and what a nice group of people!!)

   1. Tuesday 3rd June 2008 – Ruston Marconi Sports Club 7-30 pm – MARGARET INKPEN – On all the wonderful work among the children in Uganda.

   2. Thursday 26th July 2008. Day trip to Norwell Beck Society.

   3. Tuesday 1st 2008 – Ruston Marconi Sports Club 7-30 pm – Paul Money the well known astronomer and geologist – Wonders of the Universe.

   4. Strawberry Tea – Sunday 27th July 2008. – 2 pm to 5.30 pm, to be held at The Garden House, Saxby.

   5. Harvest Supper – Friday 19th September 2008 – North Hykeham Social Club HG.

   6. Christmas Party – Friday 12th December 2008 – North Hykeham Social Club HG.


STRAWBERRY TEA

  At THE GARDEN HOUSE, SAXBY. (10 miles north of Lincoln) – Tea room, seven acres of landscaped gardens by kind permission of Mr Chris Neave, strawberries and cream, tombola, cake stalls, raffles etc on the lawns. 2pm – 5pm.

Church of St LawrenceDay trip to NORWELL BECK SOCIETY

DEPART FROM RUSTON MARCONI – 10-00 AM / ARRIVE 11-00 AM. (20 miles)
Medieval Moat

  Coffee or tea in the church of St Lawrence. Audio visual presentation by Emeritus Professor of History at Nottingham University – Michael Jones and his wife Elizabeth. One of our most eminent authorities on medieval Britain, a most fascinating and interesting couple.

12-30 pm – Lunch at The Plough Inn

2-00 pm – Invitation by the Master of the Readyfield Bloodhounds Mr David Boddy at Caunton to see them in action.

3-30 pm – Visit Winkburn unique old church in the woods, one of the original Temple churches in Britain. (There are two more original Temple churches left in Britain, one in Cambridge and the other one being The Inner Temple, London)

Coach fare - £6-00 plus lunch £6-50

  A day in a beautiful country side meeting interesting people and enjoying good local food.


SWIMMING

Monday and Wednesday 10-30am. Wragby Swimming Pool.
  Fully trained lifeguard in attendance with medical equipment available. Water temperature 30 degrees C for cardiac patients.

MEMBERSHIP for all members reduced to £2-10 per 1 hour session.

MONTHLY WALKS

June 1st – BRANSTON. Meet at 10am. At the Branston Home Guard Club car park on the left opposite the pub. 4. ½ miles.

July 6th – TEMPLE BRUER. Meet at 10-00am, Meet at the High Dyke, From Lincoln take the A607 to Navenby, At the far end of Navenby turn left onto the road to Sleaford, Then take the second left to Temple Bruer, Park at the High Dike. This walk is 5 ¼ miles long but it is flat.
